Welcome to Adventure The West! My name is Chelsea. This site was started as a way to document my outdoor adventures all in one place.

Most of my life has been an adventure. I grew up in Maine surrounded by beautiful pine trees and the Atlantic Ocean. I was raised by a single mother who is my rock and one of my favorite adventure partners. She’s the one who introduced me to taking the long way or the scenic route. When I was young we would drive to New Hampshire to explore the Kancamagus Highway or we would drive to Florida for vacation just to see the sights along the way.

In 2011 I was diagnosed with cancer, and if anything, it just made me more headstrong. I realized that life was about living and I may only have a short amount of time to enjoy it. I graduated college in 2012 and moved to Colorado.

So far, I haven’t found a reason to leave. I fell in love with the mountains, the snow, the people, my job, etc. I met my fiancé only a few months after moving here and he introduced me to most of the outdoor life that I am so fond of now. He is my life partner and my soul mate and I’m happy that I get to share the rest of my life with him.

Colorado is my homebase. I live in Summit County and there is a trail out my back door that leads me to miles and miles of beautiful mountains. This is where all of my adventures have begun and will continue to begin until further notice. It’s the gateway to the west and as Thoreau once said;

“We go eastward to realize history and study the works of art and literature, retracing the steps of the race; we go westward as into the future, with a spirit of enterprise and adventure.” – Henry David Thoreau
