Welcome to Adventure the West!
If you’re reading this, you are probably new to Adventure the West. Maybe you stumbled across me through Instagram or Facebook, or maybe you just searched for some sort of adventure in the western half of the United States and I came up. I’m not sure. But you’re here, and that’s what matters (to me at least)!
IT’S NICE TO MEET YOU!
Hi! I’m Chelsea, the chief adventurer here on Adventure the West.
I am passionate about mountain adventures. I love hiking, climbing, kayaking and road tripping. I mostly just love being outside.
Adventure the West is the place where I share my adventures. The goal is to inspire you to make the most of your life, to get outside and explore. I want to entice you to go on the trip of a lifetime, or quit your job and become a full time adventurer!
I first began loving the outdoors when I was a kid and my mom would take my sister and I on scenic drives and hikes in New Hampshire and Maine. I also skied as a kid and learned to surf in high school. If it was an outdoor activity I wanted to try it.
In 2011 right before my senior year in college I was diagnosed with cancer. It spun my world around as you would expect, but it also taught me a lot about myself. After staring the barrel of the gun, I realized that I had to do something with my life. I wasn’t just here to join the rat race. I wanted something more, I needed something more.
After graduating college I moved to the outdoor capital of the US – Colorado. I still currently have my home base here in the mountains about an hour west of Denver. I am blessed to live in such an amazing place with world class ski resorts 5 minutes from my house. Colorado is known as the gateway to the west and since moving here I have traveled to all of the states west of here from Ghost Ranch in New Mexico to Squamish, British Columbia.
I believe that life is short, and that we should waste our time doing things that we don’t enjoy. So, what do you enjoy most about life? For me it’s being outside, I moved to Colorado to be outside more and I’ve started this blog to be outside more. If you want to travel and explore more then follow along and I’ll show you how! If you’re still a 9-5er, don’t worry I totally get it, as of right now I am too. But I still make time for what I love most and you can too.
