Last summer for my birthday Matt and I wanted to go backpacking somewhere relaxing and relatively close to home. We started scouring our maps and ended up picking Kroenke Lake outside of Buena Vista. If you’ve never been to the Buena Vista, Colorado area to explore, I highly recommend it!
Although I’ve lived in Colorado now for the past 5 years, I’m originally from Maine and spent my early life there. I still go home to visit often and am always excited to see the ocean again. The Rocky Mountains are a good stand in for the ocean, but this salty girl needs a little ocean in her life from time to time.
Funky Bow Brewing is like a fun high school party with much better beer. Being a lover of IPAs, I had the “So Folking Hoppy” and it was delicious!
The Brewery is located in Lyman, Maine in a totally inconspicuous location. When you drive into the driveway it immediately feels like you’re going to a party that only the locals know about. Lyman is a few miles west of Biddeford and there is not much there except for farms and houses.
Now that we’re on the other side of the winter solstice, I’m already thinking about longer days and springtime adventures. Yes, I know it’s only January right now and we still have a long way to go. But in about a month or so Moab will start getting warmer, and that is something every Coloradoan who lives in the mountains is dreaming about.
This morning I woke up at 5am (okay 5:15, I hit snooze once) and skinned uphill at Arapahoe Basin. I’m teaching myself how to ski and I had a really great day on Friday so I wanted to make sure I got out again before I go to Maine on Thursday, but unfortunately I’m working every day until then.
